2011 Shedden Season Preview

The Shedden Mission fastball team is looking forward to the upcoming 2011 season.  The roster took a big hit with the loss of all-star second baseman Mike Unwin. It will be very tough not having him around this year. He’s not only a great ball player but he also had a calming effect on the players when things weren’t going well. A classy guy on and off the field, he will be missed.  Pitcher, Dan Thompson also packed it in after an attempted comeback due to an existing knee injury.

On a more positive note, the Mission has managed to sustain a good pitching staff in Nick Goetz and Jason Dawdy.  Having 2 arms that can give you a chance to win on any given night is key to success in STDMFL. Sharing the catching duties are veterans Pat Hagerty and Curtis Cornelius.  Brent Dawdy continues at 1st base and having had a good 2010 season he will be looked upon in 2011 to do much the same. Jason Dawdy and young Ty lynch will do their best to fill in at 2nd base and veterans Rob Burns and Jeff MacPherson will cover the left side of the infield. The outfield consists of Jason Hallyburton, Brodie Golem, Dan Hutchings, Chris Lockwood and Dave Cook.  DH /3rd base/Pitcher, Gary Cook will be looked upon to supply most of the offence this year as well as tossing up a couple wins on the mound.

Finally, Coach- Chad MacPherson hopes all goes well and Shedden can recapture the title which has eluded them for many years.  Back when Shedden went by the Royals, Pest’s and Ironheads championships were falling out of their pockets and coach MacPherson would like see that happen again.
