2009 Storm Preview

 

 

      St. Thomas Storm Fastball Club is looking forward to the '09 season,     the club's 17th year in the league.  We have a few injuries to start the season and we will be without the services of last year's top pitcher award winner Ryan Cummings for the first 10 games.  Hopefully as the summer comes the club will have a full roster.  We added a new "old guy" to the club Pat Casey.   Pat played with this club when we played in the former Yarmouth League and has played Inter-County baseball with the St. Thomas Elgins as well as fastball in Hamilton.

The other new addition is Derek Stafford who is going to play part time as he is still playing midget ball in Glanworth.  Also returning is 2008 rookie of the year

Peter Babcock who is looking to build on last year’s success with an eye towards playing in the SR Canadians with the Centennials.

With 2 teams folding and some of those players filling other rosters, this could be the strongest group of teams in quite a few years.

     Our goals for 2009 are to get back to the league final and hopefully win another championship.
